Ranchi: Three policemen, deployed at the house of BJP MP Karia Munda, were abducted on Tuesday by supporters of the Pathalgadi movement in Jharkhand’s Khunti district, a senior police officer said.
Additional Director General of Police R.K. Malik said the Pathalgadi supporters barged into the Lok Sabha MP’s house at Anigada-Chandidih, abducted the three policemen and snatched their weapons in the afternoon.
Mr. Munda was not present at the house during the incident, Mr. Malik said. The Jharkahnd police had on Monday taken action against some Pathalgadi leaders in Khunti district by attaching their properties.
‘Pathalgadi’ is a campaign for declaring certain geographical territories as self-governed by installing stone plaques. The ADGP said the police had identified the location of the abducted policemen, and action would be taken to free them.
Khunti Superintendent of Police Aswini Kumar Sinha and Deputy Commissioner Suraj Kumar visited Mr. Munda’s house following the incident.
