3 Islamist Militants Shot Dead In Bangladesh

Dhaka: The Bangladesh Police on Tuesday gunned down three Islamist militants after the authorities launched a nationwide crackdown on extremists responsible for a series of murders of minorities and secular activists.

While the two ‘high-ranking’ members of the Jamayetul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) were shot dead in Dhaka, another JMB militant was killed in the north-western district of Rajshahi, reports Daily Star.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, M.R. Khaled, said the two JMB men killed in Dhaka played major roles in most of the recent attacks, including the bombing in the Shiite mosque and the murder of a liberal professor.
