3 Injured in Leopard Attack


Guwahati: Three persons, including a Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel, were today injured in a leopard attack inside Northeast Frontier (NF) Railway headquarters complex in Maligaon area here.

The leopard had strayed from the nearby hills into the premises of a SBI branch office inside the NF Railway headquarters triggering panic, a railway spokesperson said.

The animal pounced on the RPF personnel critically injuring him while two others sustained minor injuries while trying to save him.

The injured have been admitted to the Railway Hospital in Maligaon.

Meanwhile, the forest department was informed of the leopard’s movement and its personnel rushed to the area to capture the animal.

The leopard was later tranquilised, captured and sent to the Assam State Zoo, a forest official informed.
