3 Footbridges To Be Shut During Durga Puja


Kolkata: Bidhannagar police will control traffic and vehicle movement during puja time. Keeping in mind the over crowded puja pandals on VIP road, three footbridges on VIP road will be out of service during puja days. Extra police will be deployed on the road.

DC DD of Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate Amit P Javalgi, in a press conference on Wednesday announced that the three footbridges will be closed from 3 Pm in the afternoon.

Those are Golaghata Foot bridge, Sreebhumi footbridge, Lake Town footbridge. Common people will be able to access the subways except Sreebhumi subway. It will be only open for the people carrying VIP passes. Sreebhumi and Lake Town bus stand will be closed.

People going for Sreebhumi pandal hopping will have to enter from Golaghata subway and will get the exit access of Bangur subway. Auto and Taxi parking or standing time has been prohibited from Golaghata to Bangur area.

The authority suggested the Chigrighata via Rajarhat-Newtown Road for those who will head towards Airport. Use of rope in Sreebhumi puja pandal has been reduced. It will only use in two places.

People would not be able to take their cars to Dumdum park. Local residents will get the car access by using the passes. Two thousands police along with five hundred homeguards will be deployed in the area. Women police will also be available in the area for assistance. A special police control room will be opened in this purpose.
