3 Dead, 7 Missing After Avalanche Hits Khardung La


Srinagar: Three people died and seven are missing after a truck carrying 10 people was hit by an avalanche which occurred in Jammu & Kashmir’s Ladakh region.

Rescue operations are underway. The police, SDRF, Amy and GREF have reached the spot and engaged in rescue efforts. Meanwhile, a team of Army personnel from Siachen was also involved in the rescue operation.

The truck carrying a group of ten people was hit by the avalanche at 7 am Friday in Khardung La, a Border Roads Organisation (BRO) official told. BRO officials have pressed men and machinery in the rescue operations of the persons believed to be trapped under the snow.
