Behrampore: The three-day Murshidabad Heritage Festival ’19 is going to be held in Murshidabad from February 16 to 18. It has been organised by the Murshidabad Heritage Development Society.
It may be mentioned that after coming to power in 2011, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee gave special emphasis on tourism and as a result, Bengal now ranks 5th in the country in terms of international tourist footfall.
The cultural part of the festival will be held in the backdrop of one of the most exceptional palaces in Eastern India – the recently restored Katgola Palace in Lalbagh.
Meanwhile, the recently restored Bara Kothi at Azimganj showcases the re-use of heritage monuments. Heritage lovers will enjoy the romanticism of the river on boats participating in a boat race. Colourful kayaking display on the river will provide some sporting fun.
Heritage walks, visits to museums and temples including terracotta ones and the colourful boat race on the river will add to the charm. Folklore and dances are sure to mesmerise visitors, while the famous Murshidabad fireworks display will add dazzle to the gala event.
