Kolkata: The 2nd year Poetry Festival, organized by the West Bengal Kobita Academy, began in Rabindrasadan. The festival will continue till 6 March. It was inaugurated by the literary Shirshendu Mukherjee and Joy Goswami. This festival will be held on five stages in three days.
State Minister of West Bengal Indranil Sen and Kabita Academy president Subodh Sarkar were present in the inaugural ceremony. Nirendranath Chakraborty has been felicitated with ‘Jibanananda Das’ honor. Three more prizes have annouced this year. The poet ‘Subhas Mukhopadhyay’ award has given to Shibashish Mukherjee. ‘Binoy Majumdar’ award to the poet Swaroop Chanda and ‘Sunil Ganguly’ Award for the young poet Aritra Sanyal. Four hundred poets will enlighten the festival with their poetry and recitation.
West Bengal Kobita Academy president Subodh Sarkar told Kolkata24x7, “There was no such big festival with Bangla poetry before that in Bengali language. There is an International Poetry Festival in Colombia. I have come to know that this is the biggest poem festival. One day, this festival will also reach the mind of poetry lover and cross the fame of others festival. “
