Shanghai: 21 people have been reported dead after a tug boat capsized on the Yangtze river in eastern China’s Jiangsu Province. The boat which had 25 persons on board, also had an Indian who is reported to be missing.
There were eight foreigners on board including four Singaporean, two Malaysian, one Indian and one Japanese national.
Three people have been rescued and search is on for one person. Divers have been pressed into action in search of the missing. All the three people rescued were reported to be Chinese and the details of the Indian is still unknown.
Officials at the Indian Consulate in Shanghai are in touch with local authorities in order to obtain details of the Indian on board the ill fated boat.
