Cooch Behar: At least 200 youths from Cooch Behar’s Mansai are stranded in flood-
The families of these 200 youths are worried over them being stuck in Kerala. They
are there for earning money. They are workers in different fields. Many have been able to contact their family. On the other hand, there is no contact with many of the youths.
It is saddening that how to get help from concerned authorities is still unknown to the families. Hence they are just waiting for a call from their children.
Ganesh Modak’s house is at Shibpur. The 26-year-old Ganesh did his BA from Shitalkuchi College and then was looking for a job. But he needed money to get a job. So he could not find a job. Hence, he along with other youths, went to Kerala for a job. There he works as a labourer. But now Kerala is hit by flood. So sometimes contact could be made, but the maximum time there is no contact between Ganesh and his family.
Ganesh’s elder brother said, “We do not have any farming lands. We just do farming on some lands beside the river. My brother was looking for a job after completing his BA. But he needed money for getting a job, and so he did not get one. Disappointed, he went to Kerala looking for a job. Not only Ganesh but Biswajit Bose, Rupchand Sarkar, Anant Basu from the village are also in trouble by going to Kerala.”
Anant Basu’s father said, “We are not getting any information about my son. We do not know where is he and how he is. We are very worried.”
The entire village wishes the immediate return of their children home.
