Kolkata: Two persons have been arrested on charges of collecting thousands of rupees from job aspirants in New Town. Police had initiated a probe based on the complaint lodged by a job aspirant and arrested the two persons from Baguiati and New market area.
Police said one Rahul Shukla, who is a resident of Picnic Garden in South Kolkata, had lodged a complaint with the police alleging that he was cheated after he gave a good amount of money to get a job.
He alleged that he had applied for a job in a company whose office was situated in New Town. There were many more job aspirants who had deposited money with the company to get a job in different posts including service engineers. Police was informed that something around Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000 was taken from each of the job aspirants.
The police are, however, yet to ascertain the total amount of money they had collected by assuring jobs. Based on the complaint, police initiated a probe and came to know the whereabouts of the people against whom the complaints were lodged.
