Bengaluru: A 17-year-old PU student, who had been missing since October 26, was rescued by the police on November 4 from a lodge in Whitefield. She was reportedly locked up in a room and raped multiple times over a period of 10 days by a group of four men, including the owner of the lodge. The girl’s parents had registered a complaint with the police four days after she went missing.

The KR Puram police, who had initially registered a case of kidnapping (IPC 363), had been on the lookout when they received information about a girl in distress at a lodge called Classical Inn in Whitefield. Eventually, she was rescued and the four men were arrested. The four accused are Raghavendra (27) of Udupi, Manoranjan Pandit (52) of West Bengal, Sagar (22) of Davanagere, and Manju Raj (32) of Mysuru.

All four were staying nearby. Pandit is said to be the owner of the lodge. In her statement, the girl told the police that she had been invited to a party after college by one of her clasamates. The friend had even called her around 5 pm on October 26 to confirm. She was to meet her near the Whitefield railway station to head for the party. But when she reached the station around 8 pm, she found two men, who introduced themselves as Raghavendra and Sagar, and claimed to be her classmate’s friends. They had been “sent by her” to bring her to the party venue, she told the police.

Suspecting no foul play, she had accompanied them. Now, the cops say they suspect that her classmate, with whom she was to go to the party, may be involved in the crime. An investigation officer told BM: “She was asked to wait in room number 6, saying her friend would join her. But that never happened.

A little later, Sagar came and raped her, then Raghavendra, and afterwards another man named Raj. When the hotel owner came to know about it, the men urged him not to go to the police, inviting him to rape the girl in exchange for his silence.” The police were able to track the girl down through a tip-off. After she was rescued, she gave a detailed statement and underwent a medical test. The police started arresting the men from November 6 onwards. All of them were subjected to medical tests. They are now in judicial custody. A little later, Sagar came and raped her, then Raghavendra, and afterwards another man named Raj.
