Bengaluru: 15 people have been arrested in connection with a Kidney racket in Bengaluru so far and police have registered 12 cases so far in the incident which came to light after a woman, who donated her kidney complained to police that she was cheated by a middleman.
The victims of the racket are the residents of Bengaluru and nearby towns of Ramanagara and Magadi. According to the transplantation of the Human Organs Act, a kidney patient can receive Kidneys only from a relative.
The kingpin created fake documents to show that the Kidney donors and recipients were related. The donors were promised with Rs 10 Lakh but when they were not paid the sum, the donors approached the police station seeking intervention unaware of the fact that they are not entitled for donation.
Some people arrested in the case are working with renowned private hospitals in Bengaluru and Mysuru and action is also likely to be initiated against the hospital management and the police is expected to arrest more number of people.
