Kolkata: As many as 14 medical camps have been set up at various strategic locations in the city to cater to a large number of people who will attend the mega rally at the Brigade Parade Ground on Saturday.
All the medical camps have already been thrown open by various organisations including the Progressive Doctors’ Association, Progressive Junior Doctors’ Association, Progressive Pharmacist Association and Progressive Nursing Association.
One of the medical camps has been constructed near Maidan police station to attend to those seeking medical intervention. Other medical camps have been set up at Uttirno, Geetanjali Stadium and also at Salt Lake’s Central Park.
Altogether nearly 20 such camps have been set up at various places in the city and adjoining districts to provide assistance to those coming in from different parts of the state to attend the historic rally.
Many general physicians, specialist doctors, dental and oral surgeons have been posted at all the camps. Essential drugs and other equipment have already been stocked to meet the requirements.
In addition to this, Ayurveda, Homeopathic doctors, pharmacists and nurses have also been deputed. There is adequate arrangement of first aids at all the camps too.
In case of any medical emergency in the run-up to the rally, there are sufficient arrangements at the camps. Subir Biswas, a Trinamool Congress worker from English Bazar area in Malda, who has already arrived the city on Friday said that the medical camps that have been set up at various places will be of immense help to the people as specialist doctors will be available there to serve them in case they require assistance.
