Mnila: The blast struck at the heart of a busy market in Davao City on the southern Philippine island of Mindanao.
Witnesses have said they heard the loud bang, followed by smoke, ring across the city. The country’s president Rodrigo Duterte is already at the site. Local media has now reported that police have locked down the area around the Roxas night market.
Local media CMA News Online has reported that the blast came after national police reported they had foiled an assassination plot against the president.
Duterte, who is from Davao City, usually flies home every weekend. Philippines President Duterte is safe at police station following explosion in home city Davao.
