14 days JC for Ranjan Maity in Fireworks factory Blast

Midnapore: Ranjan Maity, the owner of the house where the factory was located has been sentenced top 14 days of jail custody by the Midnapore District Court on Friday. Ranjan Maity was arrested by the police of the Midnapore area on Thursday itself when the explosion took place.

At least 14 people were killed and eight were seriously injured in a high-intensity explosion in an alleged fire-cracker factory in West Midnapore district of West Bengal on Wednesday night. While the state government has ordered a CID investigation, the Opposition bayed for the government’s blood with the BJP calling for a NIA investigation comparing it with the Burdwan blast of last year and the CPM calling it symptomatic of the ‘expansion of the bomb industry’ in the state.
