Bahrain: Many people have gone into the record books for their achievement. But what is so special about this 10 year old girl? Alzain Tareq is competing in the 2015 world swimming championships as a 10-year-old. Yes, that is exactly what you have read. Leaving behind Missy Franklin who was 17 when she won four gold medals at the 2012 London Olympics, and Michael Phelps was 15 when he competed in his first Olympic games the 2000 Sydney Olympics, Tareq has made her way into the record books.

Tareq who lives in Bahrain became the youngest swimmer to ever compete at the world championships as she pursues her goal of qualifying for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. She finished last in her 50m butterfly preliminary heat on Friday, but the 10-year-old told the AP that she’s having the time of her life meeting her favorite swimmers and watching them compete at the highest level.
