New Delhi: Consumers on Wednesday woke up to learn that the petrol prices have been cut by 60 paise while diesel price went down by 59 paise, after a 16-day upward trend that saw protests across the country.
But the cheer was short lived as the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) soon clarified that there was a technical error. “The reduction was supposed to be 1 paisa but due to a clerical error the price prevalent on May 25 was communicated as today’s price,” PTI quoted a senior official of the the state owned Oil and Gas company as saying.
